What the heck?????

What a week it has been. Definitely ranks up there in the hardest weeks of my life...probably only second to the week that my dad was diagnosed w/ cancer. My sweet precious Kodi, who for all practical purposes is my niece, went to the doctor for what we thought was just a pneumonia and turned out to be a neuroblastoma. It's a fairly aggressive form of cancer and the tumors that she has are quite big. She started chemo last night at 11:00pm. It's not fair. She's only five years old. She's supposed to be enjoying soccer season and finishing up kindergarten, and instead, she's laying in a hospital bed having been put through the ringer this week. She is at Cook's in Ft. Worth and I'm so glad that she is in such a good place, however, it stinks that I have to be in Canyon and not there. I am going down on the 23rd to stay for a couple of days, and can't wait to see her and her sister. They were both flower girls in our wedding and mean the world to me. I can't believe that they are having to go through this. This is the type of thing that happens to complete strangers and then they become my friends as I take care of their child...it doesn't happen to people that I know and love. The hardest part has been having to wait for information. Being the nurse that I am, I want and need answers NOW, but have spent the week living in the unknown for the most part. Thankfully, we have an AMAZING God who is able to handle me being mad and throwing a fit and he's able to handle all the tears and the heartache. It was so nice to get a call from Tracy J (Kodi's mom) at 4:30 Thursday morning asking if I could get dry shampoo for them. Finally, something I can do to help. My next project is going to be to make her some rocking hospital gowns to wear. She's going to be the best dressed pt. Cook's has ever seen! :) Please be in prayer for her family. Her name is Kodi, her sister is Maegan, mom is Tracy Jane, and dad is Tracy Wayne. I'll keep information updated on here as much as I can. My prayer for them is that as the shock is wearing off that they would gain their footing and take off full force to attack this. Also, please be praying for the fundraisers that are being done in Kodi's name. Tracy and Tracy are driving back and forth from Sanger at least once a day, which is an hour or so one way. Between gas and eating out while in the hospital, any money that the fundraisers make is going to be a huge blessing, and I want them to be blessed above and beyond anything that any of us could imagine. I'll end with two of my favorite pictures of the girls and myself.
