Sweet Saturday!!

We are going to the lake tomorrow. I can't wait. It will be Rocky's first trip. I hope he loves it. Hopefully some of Billy's need to be around water will be met with this little trip.

Mustard and Cheese...

Last week, as you know, was football camp at WT. Well, Billy was in charge of it all and so we had all the food at our house at one point. I thought that it would all be gone after camp was over on Saturday. Little did I know what we were going to end up with. I opened the refrigerator Sunday and there were 9 yes I did say 9 bottles of mustard in our refrigerator along with way more cheese than we would ever be able to eat. All I could do was laugh. So needless to say anytime I go to an event with the opportunity to provide mustard and cheese...I'll be all over it!

Sunday Fun...

Yesterday was the first day that my husband and I have had to ourselves in a LONG time (literally about 2 weeks) so we made use of it by just hanging out and not doing a whole lot. We were both so tired from this last week that we were heathens and didn't go to church. I don't even remember my alarm going off and I know it was set before we went to bed. Once we finally got up we just hung out around the house playing with the dogs (we had a friend's 2 dogs for the weekend as well as Rocky) and we cleaned up a little bit. Then we decided that our original plan to go hiking in the canyon wasn't such a good idea b/c he was still sunburned from camp and I didn't want to go do anything where he was going to be cranky so we decided to go to Wonderland. I don't know who the genius was that decided that all the roads in Thompson Park and Wonderland needed to be retarred this weekend without putting down any asphalt, but they are idiots whoever they are. We got to Wonderland and when to get out of the car and Billy's flip-flop got stuck in tar and broke. I was pretty sure that was the end of our adventure b/c he was furious. So we drove back to Shoe Carnival and got him some new sandals, went and ate dinner and then went to Wonderland. It turned out to be a lot of fun and definitely something we want to do again soon! It was sad this morning. When he left for work he kissed me good-bye and told me he would see me in the morning...that's the part that stinks about working nights...

Some day...

Someday camp will be over, my husband will no longer be a college student, and our evenings will be free for us to spend with each other instead of working on everything he has to get done for camp or class...someday.

Cultivating Contentment

This is the title of the Bible Study that the ladies in our Sunday School class are starting this week. Life was definitely lived in the slow lane last night at work, so I whipped out the lesson for this week. Let me just say, God never fails to remind me at the most appropriate times that He is none other than a Sovreign God. From what I can tell from the first week of this study, I couldn't have gone through this at a more appropriate time in my life. First off...married life has been wonderful. I do not regret it one bit, however, it's also not what I thought it was going to be and I came to the realization last night that it's not what I thought it was going to be in large part because of me. This week has been really hard. Minus a couple of hours this weekend, I haven't really seen my husband in a week and a half. Between me working nights and him being gone and busy our paths just haven't crossed a whole lot. This has been extremely hard for me...especially this morning...I don't know why this morning, but I've been extremely tearful and emotional since I left work. I'm sure the girl at the Donut Stop thinks I've lost it completely. Anyway--back to the subject at hand. This week's lesson was over being discontent with life and why we are that way. It's human nature...but it's also a lack of the one relationship in our lives that should take priority over all others. Here lately, I have to say, I've definitely let that relationship fall to the wayside more than once and not only has it hurt me, but I'm quite certain my marriage has been effected by it.

So I realize that this probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense to anyone...I'm not even sure it makes sense to me...maybe I'll add on later...but here it is straight from my hear at 7:45 in the morning. I pray that we would all find ourselves content in the Lord today.

The Dreaded Question for Newlyweds...

...So when are you going to have kids. The answer to that question is that we don't know other than not right now. Billy has his heart set on an offensive line and if that's truly going to be the case then we better start considering it soon b/c I don't want to be 40 and having kids...Not my idea of fun.

This week is football camp at WT, so we are on our three day stretch of not seeing each other. I guess I should just get used to it b/c once they start two a days and classes start that's the way it's going to be every week. I am glad that he is enjoying what he's doing and I am enjoying work for the most part. Just like any job it has it's moments that are not so glorious, but I'm adjusting to the change in pace and change in method of action and so far, so good.

Well, it's 7:45 and that means I need to go to bed so that I can get up in a few hours. I have to go to an inservice at work today and so I have to be there almost 2 hours early...YIKES!!!!!!!!!

Almost 7 weeks...

Well, we've almost made it to the 7 week mark of being married so I thought it a good time to create a blog for our family. Billy has been gone for a couple of days, but is coming home tonight and I must admit that I'm excited. Rocky and I have just been hanging out the last couple of days. We got a new refrigerator this week, which was very exciting for me. However, when they moved it in, it was too tall to fit in it's appointed spot b/c we didn't measure it beforehand so it ended up on a random wall in the kitchen. Well, when I got up that afternoon and started getting ready for work I noticed that the refrigerator had been moved...Lo and behold, our landlord had come over that afternoon and he just took out the cabinet that was in the way so now our fridge is no longer in an awkward corner of the kitchen!!! Yeah!!! Well, I just heard the dryer go off, thus laundry calls my name so I'll end our first blog here, but be sure to check back in often to hear about the Best Happenings.
