Suggestions...

Hey ya'll--

I am needing a suggestion on something that is EASY to make in mass quantity. I need a new snack to make for our o-line guys for their Friday night meeting. I am getting tired of making the same things over and over, even though I know that they don't get tired of eating the same things all the time.

Oh--and keep in mind that I have a TINY oven, thus making it difficult to cook anything too big.

Robbed...

That was the word Billy used last night is describing his feelings about getting beat in overtime. He said he felt robbed. Hats off to our defense...they had an AMAZING game. It's actually probably the best they have played in the 4 years that we have been here. I think we had 5 sacks on the qb last night...needless to say, he's sore today I am sure. And if I do say so myself, the o-line did a great job last night. We didn't give up a sack (*disclaimer--in the stats it says that we gave up 2 sacks, but both were b/c the quarterback dropped the ball and fell on it to keep from turning it over) and we were more consistent last night than we have been all year. Billy was a nervous wreck last night b/c he started a true freshman but Shaun did AMAZING. I didn't sit down the entire game. My hats off to mom's who have kids and take them to the games. I don't think I could do it. I am wound too tight at games, I yell too much, and according to the rest of the crowd around us, our noisemakers are disruptive. I guess that's the former cheerleader coming out in me.

The heartbreak of losing doesn't get any easier to watch, especially when watching the starters who are injured and didn't get to play. Hopefully over the next 2 weeks we will get several of them back and hopefully get things rolling in the right direction.

We play Midwestern this next weekend. I'm taking my mom down early b/c she has a friend that lives in Wichita Falls and so we are going to go hang out with her before the game on Saturday.

I have to say congrats to our volleyball girls. They are doing well again this year. It's always a little bittersweet when football season starts b/c then our "Coaches Wives Club", as we like to call ourselves, isn't complete. Sarah, our DC's wife, is one of the volleyball coaches and so she doesn't get to come to hardly any of the games. She'll be here for our next homecoming game though, so that's exciting. We did get to see her at the aftergame party last night where we watched the end of the Texas Tech/Houston game. Houston won at the very end. It was a fun game to watch.

It was so good to be back in church this morning. I have missed the last two weeks having been out of town so it was good to be back this morning and it was so good to see our friends Jason and Leah and their new baby girl Kacie. (which by the way did absolutely NOTHING to help w/ my baby fever...)

Well, I guess I should get off of here and get to cleaning house. As much as I don't want to, it needs it BAD!!!!

Finally...

There have been lots of "FINALLY" moments in the Best household this week.

1. We got our first win of the season. The guys were super excited, and we as wives/surrogate moms are proud of them as it was a well deserved/hard earned win. We are injury laden right now and that never helps, especially when you are filling in spots w/ 3rd and 4th string players most of whom are either red shirt or true freshmen. They played well on Saturday though, and it's like Billy and I talked about last night, every little bit of experience for these young guys helps.

2. We broke 500 yards for the game. Last year we avg. 545 yards of offense per game and we had 547 yards this last weekend. It was nice to see the guys looking/playing much more like themselves.

3. Billy put the top back on the Jeep. It has been off since before we went to California in May and needless to say, it's been flooded a couple of times this summer...most recently while we were in Oklahoma for the game on Saturday.

4. Work is starting to get busy. There for awhile we didn't have hardly any patients (not that I EVER want kids to be sick) but we are finally starting to pick up now that school has started and kids are back in small confined corners. Flu season has officially hit, which DOES NOT excite me in the least, and that always means that we are going to have tons of sick kiddos.

5. We have a home game. I know it's only been two weeks since we played at home, but it seems like it has been FOREVER since we were at home. Being gone two weekends in a row, especially when one of those weekends was a 5 day trip to the Northwest, has really done me in. I can't wait to have time on Thursday to actually be at home and get laundry/cleaning/cooking/grocery shopping done.

6. I actually am able to be part of a Bible study. Because I work nights, I don't get to be a part of Bible studies very often, but our church started one that meets on Thursday mornings which means, I can just work Wed. night and then go to Bible study when I get home in the morning. The challenge will be keeping myself awake until time for Bible study to start.

That's the high points for right now. Hopefully I'll get to start uploading some pictures soon. I have to get everything backed up to an external harddrive first though in case my computer decides to bite the big one while I'm uploading stuff.

It's 2:00 am so that means I have a sweet, precious little boy who needs some medicine, his diaper changed and a bottle. I think I'll have to spend some extra time rocking him this time...

Washington or bust...

I leave today to fly to Washington for our game on Saturday. I am kind of sad b/c I am the only wife that is going so I'm still a little clueless as to who I am going to sit with. Probably shouldn't sit by any parents if last Saturday is any clue as to how I am going to deal with them the rest of the season. Lets just say, I will not be sitting in my same seats anymore at home games, and I'm pretty sure that that player's mom will think twice before she starts verbally bashing our coaching staff again...

I am excited to go to Washington, because not only do I get to go to the football game, but I also get to go visit my aunt who lives up there. I've never gotten to go visit her, so I am excited to go and stay with her.

I am praying that my flight isn't delayed coming home b/c I have an inservice at work on Monday that I have to go to and I have to get it done on Monday. For some reason they decided to only offer it three times this year instead of four and so of course Monday is the last time they are going to offer it.

Guess I should get off of here and get to packing. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Holy Moly!!

What a week it has been already. I don't know what is in the air, but it is definitely setting all of the asthmatics off. Of the 7 kids we have right now, 6 of them are in for asthma issues. Thankfully they all seem to be making the turn for home, but at the same time, I'm ready for a good trauma so that we have a little excitement up here.

This past weekend we started football season. We lost our first home game, but I can honestly say we shot ourselves in the foot. We played w/ Grand Valley, but our own mistakes are the ones that killed us. I am curious to see how the guys respond this week. I will be making my infamous chocolate chip cookies this Friday for the guys position meetings.

After losing my keys Saturday night at the game and literally making myself sick worrying about finding them, I called the campus police when I got home from church on Sunday and thankfully someone had turned them in earlier that morning. I then found someone from the SS class to take me out to the stadium to get the Jeep since Billy was already working. It rained Saturday night, but thankfully not a whole lot. The Jeep was all but dried out when I got there. I am pushing for Billy to put the top back on this week sometime so that we can quit creating more problems for ourselves by flooding the Jeep everytime it rains.

I took our bikes last week and got them tuned up. It's been a couple of months since I last rode mine, and my backside is NOT in bicycle riding shape. It hurts to sit down and I even have a cushion on my seat. Guess that means I better get back to riding it on a regular basis again. I'm excited for Thursday night to get here so that Billy and I can go for a bike ride together. I haven't seen him since Monday, so it will be nice to get to hang out with him and have his undivided attention for a little bit. On that note, do any of you other football wives wish that you could destroy your husband's cell phone from time to time????

I work two more nights this week, and then we play UCO on Saturday. Hopefully our guys come out and kick butt. Then I work Sun-Tues next week and take off for Washington state on Thursday. I can't wait, and I can't believe that it's already here.

Oooops! Guess I should go do my five o'clock assessments and finish up my work so that I can get the heck out of dodge once the day shift gets here.
